Aimed primarily at small businesses, the virtualization layer is designed to help ease the transition for those still running programs that don't work properly with Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

To use the compatibility layer, users need to be running Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise, or Windows 7 Ultimate.

The other tricky point is that to use XP mode, consumers also need a machine that has chip level virtualization support and has that feature turned on, something that isn't always easy for consumers to determine.

At its core, XP Mode consists of two things, the Windows Virtual PC engine and a licensed copy of Windows XP Service Pack 3 as a packaged virtual machine, both of which Microsoft will make available for download.(source)ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10997160303691560565noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6262077232180948341.post-14551739907016279862009-02-05T13:52:00.003-05:002009-10-07T14:44:14.788-04:00Google/Yahoo HijackI had a couple users that were having issues with google and yahoo. Whenever they would search for something, the results would display the wrong web addresses. I downloaded and tried every spyware /adware remover on the market, and nothing fixed it. i finally came across a blog that mentioned one file to delete. When this file was deleted, the problem was resolved. If you're having the same issue, try searching for and deleting C:\windows\system32\wbmaud.sys
There were 2 files by the same name. If you look at the properties of each, you will notice that one is made by microsoft and the other is a fake. Hope this helps.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6262077232180948341.post-32710068009737760302007-05-16T10:26:00.001-04:002009-10-01T14:35:19.643-04:00Vista Users Having Problems with Outlook Web AccessI ran into my first issue with Vista today. I have one user having issues with Outlook Web Access (exchange 2003). He could access email, but could not enter any information into the body of a message. It was only displaying with a red x in the box. Microsoft has released a Hotfix for the issue and all you have to do is download and install the update. I didnt even have to restart my exchange server, but you may have to. Here's a link to the download site.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?amp;amp;displaylang=en&familyid=5BC06E8A-08EB-4976-BC68-A03EBE3A2552&displaylang=enUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0
